Senate Bill 195

Assembly Bill 195 – Supporting English Learners

Assembly Bill 195 is a Nevada law that strengthens the rights of English learner (EL) students and their families. It ensures that families are informed and involved in decisions about their child's education, especially when it comes to language learning support.

Under this law, parents of English learners have the right to:

Receive important school information in a language they understand.

Be notified if their child is identified as an English learner.

Be involved in programs and services provided to support their child’s language development.

The goal of AB 195 is to make sure English learner students get the support they need—and that families stay connected every step of the way.
